November 13, 2011
By

The year is winding down; all the award shows have been on television lately, and I’d like to give out a few of my own, along with a thump or two on the head of those who need it. Call me a critic! These are my opinions only and should not be construed as...

September 4, 2011
By

The Financial Health of Our Organizations: NCBTMB

December 1, 2010

This is the second year that I have written a series on the financial status of the non-profit organizations associated with the massage therapy profession. I am not an accountant or a financial expert. All the information in my blogs on this subject is available for public viewing on www.guidestar.org, which is a clearinghouse...

NCBTMB Revokes/Suspends Diploma Mills

August 22, 2010
By

For over a year now, the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork has been working quietly behind the scenes to eradicate massage schools—or rather, diploma mills—that have been handing out fraudulent transcripts and diplomas, lacking any operating authority, and committing a host of other ethics violations. Since June of 2009, 11 schools...

Local Laws Affect YOU!

April 2, 2010
By

I try to keep abreast of what's going on in the political scene of massage--and to update my readers on that. I am amazed at the amount of people who apparently don't care. I hear things like "I'm just too busy doing massage to keep up with that."
