Try Something New for the New Year
As a Licensed Massage Therapist, it can be easy to get stuck in a monotonous routine. You may provide amazing bodywork, but as the years tick by, you might still have the same service menu and offer the same quarterly discounts and specials. For me, stumbling into the vast world of aromatherapy last year has been incredibly transforming for my practice. Upon finding a very high quality line of essential oils, my practice has expanded and transformed far beyond what I had originally imagined.
My expedition into the world of high quality essential oils led me to embark on an internationally recognized aromatherapy certification program, as well as discover a whole new modality which has brought healing, relief, and wonderment at the power of plant oils for my clients. This new modality – an essential oil therapy – consists of the application of nine very anti-viral, anti-microbial, and anti-bacterial medicinal grade oils to the spine and it’s corresponding reflex points on the feet. As a result of this deeply relaxing treatment, clients experience pain relief, a deep sense of calm and balance, and increased immune system functioning among many other benefits. Many therapists worldwide offer it, and it can even be found on the luxurious spa menu of the Bellagio Hotel.
Stepping out of my “Would you like Swedish or Deep Tissue?” paradigm required me to let go of the reigns a bit and humbly start from scratch to study a new therapy. However, it certainly paid off to try something new. I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone in 2011 and choose a new modality, technique, or therapy to learn. I promise it will benefit your clients, stoke your creativity, and ultimately help you to create a dynamic and rewarding practice.

That’s Great!!! Thanks. I read your article on stepping out into something new for 2011 and I was always skeptical about doing Stone Massage, but this past year 2010 I did one for the first time and my client loved it so much, that it is a hot commodity on my schedule. So, even though I started about 3 months ago, I am now more confident that I can do more Stone Massages for this year as well. Good Luck To You and Your Business
Sounds like Raindrop!! and Young Living oils. I went to the training with Gary Young in Dallas in October. Amazing Therapy. Keep spreading the word so everyone knows the healing abilities of YL essential oils.
